The trail that led James Guardino from the chaos of the holding cells in back of Brooklyn’s steamy NYPD central booking space in the 84th Pct., to eventually making a 36-minute documentary about Island running hero Bill Welsh.

The tale goes something like this:

Guardino, of the Dongan Hills Guardinos, was home from Cal-Berkley after earning post-graduate degree in journalism.
